Termites, also known as white ants, are capable of destroying anything containing cellulose which includes paper and wood. It is not easy to detect a termite attack before a lot of damage is done.
Termites need darkness and humidity to survive. For this purpose, they build mud channels that provide them with their needs. A termite nest can be considered as being composed of two parts, the inanimate and the animate. The animate is all of the termites living inside the colony, and the inanimate part is the structure itself, which is constructed by the termites.
Termites control can be achieved through a systematic inspection and treatment which can involve some or all of the following activities:-
Repair broken roof tiles Check for dampness in your roof and dehumidify if you find a problem.Keep furniture away from walls Choose furniture made from metal and other materials.Keep all the wooden structures dry. Do not let moisture seep into the wood. The moment it seeps in, there is a possibility of termite infestation.
Nematodes are worm species that look out for hosts like termites. Nematodes can be used in a spray form that will kill termites in approximately 48 hours. Nematodes are not harmful to plants, humans or pets. They only concentrate on insects and destroy their colony in no time.
